Fonebank works pretty much the same as all other mobile phone recycling sites. You enter the details of your phone and they tell you how much you can expect for it if it is in the condition you have described. You then send your phone off and wait for your cash which is paid either by cheque or bank transfer. Unlike most other mobile phone recycling, they do not send out envelopes for you to send your phone in. They say this is to reduce waiting time for your cash but it is more likely a money saver for them. We would have liked to have seen this option, however, it wasn’t a problem for us as we had a good padded envelope hanging around. They recommend sending your item by special delivery so that it is covered by insurance. We chose to use their freepost address as our phone was worth less than the Royal Mail compensation limit of £46. Once Fonebank received the phone we were paid within 2 days with no problems. Whilst the amount we received may not be as much as some of the other phone recycling, we would still highly recommend this site. They seem to be honest and pay in a timely fashion. If you have an old phone you can’t go wrong with Fonebank.
